Members of the Judith Basin Chamber are happy to announce they have chosen a company for printing “Furrows & Trails, Part II.” Bookmobile of Minneapolis seems to be the perfect fit for the Chamber – affordable and easy to work with. The company boasts superior quality, excellent customer service, flexibility and timely turnarounds. They have been in business since 1982.
Bookmobile offers a wide range of flexible options. First of all and probably most important, they only require a minimum of 25 books printed while many companies require a 1,000-book minimum – not that 25 books is all the Chamber will print, but 1,000?
Bookmobile will print and bind as few as 16 pages and as many as 1,400. The second edition of “Furrows & Trails” will definitely fall in between these two numbers. The number of pages needed has not yet been determined.
The Chamber has the option of two book orientations: portrait or landscape. They have not yet chosen the orientation but will get quotes on the difference in price for the two formats. The book will be printed on quality paper.
Pages for the book must be sent camera ready to Bookmobile. The Chamber will get quotes from a couple of graphic designers who have the knowledge and talent for this part of the project – and are affordable.
Bookmobile sent Chamber President Kim Holzer a sample of one of their books. Chamber members agreed their work is very professional and will provide a keepsake book of Judith Basin County’s residents’ histories and stories.
The Chamber is hoping to have the book ready for Christmas this year. They have set a final deadline date for article submissions at July 1. Those folks who have been thinking about submitting but have not yet done so have just a short six months left to make sure their family’s history and stories are included in the book for the enjoyment and education of future generations.
All entries for this second edition can be mailed to the Chamber email at firstname.lastname@example.org or hand delivered, preferably in digital format, to the Judith Ranger District Office at 109 Central Avenue in Stanford, to Pioneer Hardware at 93 1st Street South in Stanford or to the Judith Basin Press Office at 79 Central Avenue in Stanford. Articles will also be accepted through the Chamber’s post office address (please stipulate Furrows & Trails on envelope) at Box 223, Stanford, MT 59479.
Once Chamber members have determined the number of pages they are going to need to include all submissions in the book, they will have a book price and will begin pre-selling the book.
Until that time the website – furrowsandtrails.com – has a place for people to place themselves on a reservation list. Scroll from the top of the website down to the box labeled “Book Order Reservations.” Click on the box, fill out the required information and hit the submit button. A call to the Press office will also place interested book buyers on a reservation list – 566-2471.
We will be updating the information about this project on an ongoing basis. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask us.
Please continue to reserve your books online. We should have a retail book price by February 2018 if not sooner. The price of the book will be determined by the number of pages we will need to print.
